These valleys are: Kullu valley, which stretches from Manali to Largi along the Beas river; Tirthan valley along the Tirthan river in the Great Himalayan National Park (GHNP) region, and the Parvati valley along the Parvati river. There are many privately-operated fixed camping sites in these valleys and most of them are located along the banks of the rivers.

If you want to camp, say in a forest, then you need to compromise on certain things including the variety in meals as it is extremely difficult to carry and transport weight in the mountains. But in any case, tourism companies maintain the quality of your meals while camping at good heights in the mountains and mostly on the menu is ‘camping food,’ which is recommended everywhere.
Is it safe to camp in the forests?
In some forest areas in Kullu there is a danger of animals which are out of bounds for camping. The rest of the forest areas are very much safe for camping. Camping takes places only and only where there is a 100% safety guaranteed from animals.

No. There is no ban on camping in the forests of Himachal. To protect the fragile forests, Uttarakhand High Court had imposed a ban on the night stay in the meadows there last year. In any case, all campers must respect the forests and don’t litter.
What about snow camping?
