Staying in Kasauli means re-living the good old days. And what better place to do this than the heritage hotels built during the British era. Constructed in the colonial style of architecture, some of these buildings date back to 19th century and were later converted into hotels. Here is our pick of the top heritage hotels of Kasauli.

Alasia Hotel

One of the oldest buildings of Kasauli, Alasia has an interesting past. It was constructed in 1873 and housed a bank till the late 1930s when a certain C J Tidwell bought it and converted it into a hotel in 1941. Tidwell named the hotel ‘Alasia’ after his associate Pearl Alasia, a businesswoman. Both ran the hotel for eight years and in 1949 sold it to a British couple.

In 1960, it was bought by Robert Hotz. Hotz ran the hotel till 1966 and converted into one of the most happening places of the town. By the way, Hotz’s daughter Sandra had married Hollywood director David Lean.

Today a heritage property, the hotel is located in the main Kasauli town and offers rooms with amenities including mini bars and fireplaces. The hotel also features a garden and provides parking facilities. Due to its central location, all the sightseeing spots are within a walking distance.
