This more than 100-year-old palace was built by Maharaja Rajinder Singh of erstwhile Patiala state. Located on a hill top, the palace has been converted into a hotel by the Himachal Pradesh government but a portion of it is marked for visitors. A stone-and-wood structure, the palace has a huge lawn and is surrounded by tall Deodar trees. You can visit the palace by paying an entry fee.

If you want to watch a sunset that looks simply magnificent and also have an amazing view of the mountain ranges then you must visit this temple. At about half-an-hour drive from the Chail bazaar, Kali Mata Ka Tibba is located on a hill top, the highest in Chail. You will get the most beautiful view of the mountain ranges and the hills while standing at the temple terrace.

The evening comes with a sunset that can be easily described as breathtaking. Not a place to miss.

This is the best place if you want to see Shimla from Chail. You can reach this temple in your vehicle but we would suggest a little walk as the road is too narrow for even a single car. It’s a nice hike in the forest. And once you are here, you won’t regret the effort. Located on a hill top, the temple design is also unique and raw stones have been used in construction.

From the vantage point here, you can have the perfect view of Shimla and the surrounding hills.

Chail Cricket Ground

Chail has a cricket ground at an altitude of 2286 meters, one of the highest such grounds in the world. This cricket ground was built by the erstwhile Patiala state whose Maharajas have been known for their love of this game. No competitive cricket matches have been played here in ages and it is now used as a playground by the Chail Military School.

Sadhupul

On way to Chail from Kandhaghat, there is a small place called Sadhupul, which is situated on the bank of a rivulet known locally as Ashwani Khad. According to a local tale, a sadhu used to live near the bridge that was constructed here during the days when this entire area was ruled by the erstwhile Patiala state. This is why the place got its name.

Sadhupul is popular among campers. There are many camping sites along the river here.
