Bijli Mahadev temple and a wooden pole in front of it are struck by lightning. It is said lightning strikes the temple every 12 years. Hence, the name of the temple.

shiva lingam

The lightning breaks the Shiva Lingam of this temple into pieces. The pieces are collected by the temple priest and put together using home-made butter taken from nearby villages.

There is a 60-foot wooden pole, carved out of a Deodar tree, placed in front of the temple. Mostly, the lightning strikes this pole.
