Snowfall in Kasauli is rare. Kasauli used to get covered with snow every winter, mostly in December-end and January. But that was a long time ago. Now it hardly snows. You will be really lucky if you witness snowfall in Kasauli. And even if it snows, it will melt away within hours. So, if you are planning to experience snowfall then Kasauli is not an ideal place.
Nice. Like all the other hill stations, it gets fairly cold in the winter months from December till February-end (minimum temperature drops below 0 degrees Celsius) and in summers it gets sunny and pleasant with a cool breeze keeping the temperatures low.
Summers are ideal but you can visit throughout the year. However, be careful while planning a visit in the monsoons. Heavy rains often result in landslides on highways and connecting roads from Kalka upwards. And in winters, it gets a little chilly especially during nights. But if you are all right with that then you sure can visit in winters too.
Kasauli is closest to Chandigarh, which has a good air, rail and road connectivity to other parts of the country. After reaching Chandigarh, you can either hire a taxi or board buses from the Inter State Bus Terminus (ISBT) in Sector 42. If you have boarded a bus, then you will have to first reach Dharampur and then take another bus or hire a taxi to reach Kasauli. The distance between Dharampur and Kasauli is around 12 kms.
Yes. Lack of good parking spaces in Kasauli can turn out to be big headache at times. Narrow roads often result in frequent traffic jams especially during summers when the number of visitors increase manifold in Kasauli.
Kasauli and Dagshai are neighbours. Both the hills face each other with Dharampur town in between. To reach Dagshai, you need to first reach Dharampur, which is at a distance of around 10 kms from Kasauli. From Dharampur, Dagshai is a 10-minute drive.
Kasauli is a cantonment town. But the photography is prohibited in only certain parts of Kasauli the army believes are sensitive. You can’t take photographs for example at the Air Force Station, Gilbert House etc. In the main town and elsewhere, you can.
Dagshai and Subathu. Both are historic places having a British connection and are close to Kasauli. To reach Dagshai and Sabathu, you will first need to reach Dharampur. From here, you can be in Dagshai in less than 15 minutes if you travel by a car and in Sabathu in less than an hour.
