BEAS KUND IN MAY
Located at an altitude of around 3700 meters in the mountains of Kullu-Manali in Himachal Pradesh, Beas Kund, a glacial lake, remains buried under heavy snow even in May. The snow starts receding and clearing out in June and by mid-June the trek is opened (you can read about the trek here).
But if you want to do a snow trek in summer then you should try Beas Kund in May. Beyond Bakarthatch, it’s just snow all around. You walk on snow amidst snow-laden mountains with everything frozen around you. To give you an idea how is it like reaching the Beas Kund in May, here I am sharing some pictures of the trek, which I had done along with some friends earlier this year in May.

Beas Kund Trek
On our first day of trekking we reached Bakarthatch by sundown. We pitched our tent near a bent tree. The evening was cold and beautiful.
This is how we cooked our food, melting snow chunks for water.
We crossed some amazing mountains on our way.
Like the famous Seven Sisters, a row of seven vertical mountains.

Finally, we were there!
We found the Bes Kund buried in snow.
But it was all worth every single step we took on the snow.
