SABATHU
A quaint little historic town, Sabathu or Subathu lies in the beautiful hills of Solan district in Himachal Pradesh and at a distance of around 30 kms from Kasauli. Sabathu was the first cantonment established by the Britishers after defeating Gorkhas in 1815. It was also here that the Nasiri battalion, the first Gorkha battalion, was founded after the Anglo-Gorkha war, and is presently home to the 14 Gorkha Training Centre. Before Shimla and Kasauli were founded, it was from Sabathu that Britishers ran the affairs of the hill states. Today, its scenic beauty and historic past brings curious travelers to Sabathu.
